- Think About Your Questions: Jot down any questions or concerns you have. You might want to ask about her approach to therapy, experience, or how she can support you.
- Feel at Ease: During the consultation, remember that this is a safe space! Share what you feel comfortable with about why you’re seeking therapy. I am here to listen and help.
- Assess the Connection: Pay attention to how you feel during the consultation. Trust your instincts about whether I feel like a good fit for you—just as a plant thrives in the right environment, so will you in a supportive therapeutic relationship.
2. Intake Session
- Schedule the Intake: If you feel good about the consultation, you can schedule a longer intake session (60-90 minutes). This session is about understanding your unique story.
- Complete Paperwork: You may need to fill out some forms about your background and current concerns. This helps Shannon to understand you better.
- Share Your Story: Be prepared to talk about your personal history, including family, challenges, and any mental health experiences. Take your time—this is a journey.
